Airea is the latest venture incubated within my design and innovation studio: created from a personal realization that traditional filters simply weren’t enough to protect the people I cared about most.

During the pandemic, while supporting family members with compromised health and watching environmental concerns grow, I became acutely aware of the invisible threats that linger in the air and on surfaces. It was clear we needed something more proactive, something that could go beyond HEPA filters to continuously safeguard our spaces.

From Concept to Clinical-Grade Innovation

At MNML, our boutique team has spent decades at the intersection of design, technology, and healthcare. With a track record of building life-saving tools like Surfacide’s Helios UV-C disinfection system (used in hospitals worldwide to combat HAIs), advanced detection devices for FLIR and Sonosite, and wellness products for partners like Theragun, Medtronic, and Nike. That legacy of innovation shaped Airea.

We didn’t just design the exterior. We engineered the purification cell, architected the tech stack, built the North American supply chain, and guided third-party validation, ensuring Airea could deliver clinical-grade performance in a safe, compact form.

Unlike most startups that rely on large teams and heavy funding, Airea has been a scrappy, independent effort. With just a handful of dedicated people, we’ve brought to life a product that’s not only FDA-bound, but also priced competitively with devices manufactured overseas, while keeping our design, engineering, and production rooted in North America.
